CONTEXT

In Peru, people often exchange dollars for soles and vice versa because the economy operates with both currencies. The dollar is commonly used for saving, protecting against inflation, and making large purchases, while the sol is the official currency for everyday transactions. Depending on their needs—saving, paying, traveling, or investing—it’s normal for people to switch between the two.

Cocos y Lucas is a digital platform backed by Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP) that allows users to buy and sell dollars and soles instantly, securely, and easily.

How might we create a way for people to exchange their money more quickly?

How might we create a way for people to exchange their money more quickly?

  • Eliminate the need to attach a transfer voucher

  • Must be able to complete the exchange instantly, with no waiting time

  • The design should resemble an e-commerce payment gateway

The money exchange process is quick and straightforward, but users need to have their card on hand.

Users are required to input their card details as the source of funds in order to process the exchange.

Exchanges and money transfers are completed instantly, with no additional steps or voucher verification, unlike traditional exchange houses in Peru.
